West Coast Sour Ale by Persephone Brewing Co

“There is not a party in existence that is similar to a party located on the West coast of the Americas, due to the fact that parties on the west coast are perpetual in nature” – Tupac (paraphrased by a very white person)

That’s so good, it’s fucking CREEPY.

When I think West Coast, I think A) Home and B) uppity Democrats. It’s just the nature of the beast. Have to take the good with the bad, the bad of course being the pussy leftards. *injecting political affiliations* I won’t go any further, because just like at parties, I tend to ruin the fun of the ‘moral’ left by dosing out reality in the meanest way I can imagine. I’m kind of a dick like that.

More than meets the eye!

I like Persephone. They don’t make a bad beer, I swear. The labels are yawn-inducing, but it’s OK as long as the beer is good enough. It’ll be a while before I get around to visiting the brewery, because I never go to the Sunshine Coast. Mostly because I’m not old. It’s an old people town. Don’t try and pretend it isn’t.

So many search bars. Much Spyware. wow

The pour is a fairly opaque, apricot-orange color with no real head.

The smells are… Wow. Massive oranges, lemon, lactobacillus, and sourdough. Powerful, getting my taste buds going.

The tastes are.. Weeeeeeeeeewwwww. Sour. Sour. Big lactobacillus, herbal, odd spices, dusty basement, WEIRD

The mouthfeel is medium and a bit sticky. Very low fizzy carbonation. Flavors slowwwwwly roll back and then cock-punch the sour glands at the back of your jaw.

3.5/5 As a west coast sour, I kind of expected a hoppier experience. It’s pretty good and worth trying, but I think it’s slightly mislabeled. It’s a good, straightforward, non-fruit sour.

A real accomplishment.
